Sins of our Fathers
What does it mean to be a father?
Is it just providing and protecting, or does it go deeper into love, discipline, leadership, and legacy?
Sins of Our Fathers is not just a book; it’s a conversation, a reflection, and a challenge to men everywhere. It explores:
- What true fatherhood looks like beyond reproduction.
- The weight of responsibility, sacrifice, and wisdom.
- The impact of a father’s presence or absence on future generations.
Are fathers just a title or a calling?
This book unveils the silent burdens, celebrated victories, and lasting imprints of fatherhood through real-life stories, biblical insights, and deep reflections.
Fatherhood is not just about what you leave for your children, it’s about what you leave in them.
A Word from the Author
When the vision for Sins of Our Fathers was birthed, I knew it was more than just another book. It was a call to action, a guide, and a legacy piece—one that would serve as a template for men to learn from those who have excelled in the different offices of manhood and fatherhood.
Many conversations about fatherhood and manhood focus on what has gone wrong—the failures, the wounds, the mistakes passed down through generations, but I wanted to take a different approach. What if we could highlight the victories? The moments of strength? The wisdom that has shaped great men? What if we could give men a reference point, a blueprint, a guide to navigate the journey of life? That’s what this book is about. Through the stories and experiences of men from different backgrounds, we uncover what it truly means to be complete—spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. No man is perfect, but through the wisdom of others, we can learn, grow, and build a better future.
This book is not just my story—it’s a collective journey. It is filled with the insights of many great men, because I believe wisdom is best shared, not kept in isolation. As Proverbs 11:14 (KJV) reminds us:
“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” If you are a father, I hope this book challenges you to rise to the call of leadership, guidance, and legacy. If you are a young man, I hope it gives you a foundation, a roadmap, and a vision of what manhood truly is. And if you are someone seeking to understand fatherhood, may these words give you clarity and appreciation for the weight that men carry in silence. This book is a tribute to every man who has walked the path before us, a gift to those walking it now, and a guide for those who will follow after us.

Blueprints of Fatherhood: Lessons from 'Sins of Our Fathers'
Jide Pomary’s ‘ Sins of Our Fathers’ simply presents the strength of fathers even in the face of their vulnerability. The experiences shared show how fathers let go of all they have, to be able to build their families. They empty themselves of their money, much of their sleep, depth of their love, and their time, to give meaning to families that in turn build the society we see. The meaning from these stories of love, provision, discipline, struggles, and the acknowledgement of the God-factor helping them, before their families, is the foundation upon which everyone from a family grows.
I presume the book is prepared for fathers-to-be, who should learn from how and what older fathers did to give life to their families. To every young man who reads this, please take each special story to heart as your guide, because here’s a ‘cheat book’ to help you succeed as a father.

The thought that went into birthing this piece of work is truly amazing and beautiful. I can’t wait to connect with different people’s stories but yet, similar experiences and I appreciate what Jide has done with this book to bring us to that place.
Praise for Sins of our fathers
“Sins of Our Fathers” is a timely, tender, and profoundly redemptive literary gift to this generation and beyond. In a world where fatherhood is often misunderstood, misrepresented, or missing entirely, this anthology does something truly remarkable—it doesn’t just highlight the gaps; it honors the grace.
Each page holds reflections that are not only deeply personal but also powerfully communal. Through moving stories and lessons, the contributors reveal how fathers—imperfect but intentional—have shaped lives through provision, protection, presence, and principles. These are not just memoirs; they are living testaments of legacy, love, and leadership, captured through the lens of gratitude and grace.
What makes this collection compelling is its honesty. It acknowledges the nuanced realities of fatherhood—strength and struggle, discipline and devotion, quiet sacrifices and daily decisions. It reminds us that fatherhood is not a title but a transformative role; that provision is more than money, and protection is more than fences.
This book fills a crucial cultural gap. It redefines the narrative by celebrating the overlooked, the unsaid, the unsung virtues of African fathers—men who may not have been perfect, but who gave their best, often behind the scenes. It’s an invitation to honour, to reflect, and to reconcile.
“Sins of Our Fathers” is not just an anthology—it is a healing balm, a tribute, and a legacy in itself. For those with a father, without one, or trying to become one, this is an essential, soul-stirring read.

Sins of Our Mothers
Sins of Our Fathers came first because that was the order of the vision. To know God is to know that He is a God of order. The story of mankind began with the man first, and then the woman—each with a unique role, each carrying a divine assignment.
While Sins of Our Fathers explored the sacrifices, leadership, and responsibilities of men, Sins of Our Mothers will unveil the nurturing power, wisdom, and influence of mothers in shaping generations. Mothers are the custodians of love, the anchors of homes, and the first teachers of life. They carry burdens in silence, yet their impact echoes for generations. This book will highlight the strength, resilience, and unwavering dedication of mothers, capturing the beauty of their sacrifices and the legacies they leave behind.
What will this book explore?
- The sacrificial love of mothers—and how it shapes destinies.
- The wisdom and strength of women, and their impact on families and society.
- The legacies mothers leave behind—faith, values, and character.
- The unspoken victories of womanhood—overcoming challenges with grace.
Sins of Our Mothers is not just a book; it is the next step in fulfilling the vision. If Sins of Our Fathers was about understanding the weight of manhood, this book will celebrate the power of womanhood and the divine assignment of motherhood.
Motherhood is more than a role—it is a force that shapes generations. Stay tuned. Sins of Our Mothers is coming soon.
